Ideas for writing dialogue

Write a dialogue in which an argument builds. This could be a reasoned argument between two or more individuals concerning something like a decision which may benefit humankind or the planet ; or it could be about the pros and cons of going to war.

Alternatively you could choose a domestic argument . For example: at what age and under which conditions should the eldest son  or daughter be allowed to stay out all night?

As a writer allow yourself to explore the full gamut of emotional responses each of your characters could experience. For the development of your skills aim for at least twenty lines of dialogue. Use vocabulary and modes of expression appropriate to your respective characterisations. Dialogue can enliven a piece of prose such as a short story. If continued it might blossom into a play.
