Poetry - Jocelyn Simms
I have Sister Mary David to thank for my lifelong love of literature. Our small sixth form attended WEA classes in the 60’s where the formidable Dr. Keith Sagar lectured on Walt Whitman, T.S.Eliot and Sylvia Plath.

Gordon and I have been producing assignments for the Writers’ Block since 1999. I have edited several poetry pamphlets and recently the first Segora anthology. I have published two poetry collections, ‘Quarantine’ and ‘Topaz Island’. My reference work ‘Colour Matters’ is a highly-visual book packed with ideas for writers and tutors. It features responses to some of the exercises by those following the Writers’ Block courses.

These first three poems are part of a longer sequence, ‘Quarantine’, that enforced period of separation whilst one waits for something unpleasant to manifest, or not, as the case may be. This collection was highly commended by The New Writer in 2008.
