Here are some riddles we received in response to Gordon’s Game: Missing Parts.  If you would like to suggest answers to these email us.

Susan’s riddle:

Spokes extend from the apex

Of the pole;

Holding thick, rippled paper;

That drops

In a rigid, hollow square.

Stops

Six inches from silver metal;

Flat;

Ten by ten.

Bevelled; supporting.

Small, I think, for the height.

A bee drops

The five foot fall.

Uses for the Object

1          Display stand for birthday cards.

            Extra materials required; blue tac or similar

2          Use the paper to make an Elizabethan ruff for a fancy dress party

3          Now the paper is removed:

            Take object into garden

            Turn upside down

            Drive into ground

            Use as a bird table

Alternatively, plug it in and switch the light on.

What is it?

From Bernard: The sum of its parts

It sits light and easy, not picking out reality-a pale shadow of itself.

Obscurity fills its chassis. Two arms streamline backward from hinges, circling collagen for support. Up front, a central link connects thin, vacant ovals – the outline of flexed biceps yet power without power.

How can it be used?

To hold two boiled eggs – a posh eggcup!

To prise the burnt tobacco from two pipes at once!

For drawing lines or stencilling when playing with colour crayons!
